Human error caused the crash of the Hungarian Armed Forces' H145M helicopter in Croatia

Croatian authorities have completed the investigation into the crash of a Hungarian military helicopter back in June 2023. According to the findings, the accident occurred due to human error: the helicopter's crew deviated from the pre-approved flight path, resulting in the helicopter colliding with a cable from a ropeway, crashing, and killing all crew members on board.

This confirms reports from eyewitnesses who stated that the Hungarian Armed Forces' Airbus Helicopters H145M helicopter became entangled in a cable.

A key question in the investigation is whether the pilot of the crashed helicopter deviated from the approved flight path by his own decision or was instructed to do so. This remains under investigation by the Hungarian authorities, but according to 24.hu, the Ministry of Defence has not made any public statements on the matter.

Two H145M helicopters from the Hungarian Air Force were conducting aerial training in Croatian airspace in June 2023 when one of the helicopters, with three crew members on board, crashed in central Croatia. Rescue teams found the wreckage on the same day, and during the search, the bodies of two soldiers were initially recovered, with the third crew member found later.
