Revolut, the digital bank, has achieved a milestone by exceeding 10mn retail customers in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region, adding 2.5mn clients in under a year.
Romania stands out as the leader in the region, boasting over 3mn clients and a remarkable 39% growth in its customer base over the past year.
This achievement positions Romania as the second-largest market for Revolut globally, trailing only the UK. Revolut has reported that it now handles more than 138mn transactions each month in CEE, marking a 67% increase compared to the average number of transactions processed in the preceding 12 months.
With over 3mn Revolut clients, Romania takes the lead as the largest market for the financial app in the CEE region. Poland has also experienced substantial growth, with a 48% increase, approaching the 3mn customer mark. Hungary (1mn retail customers), Bulgaria (670,000 retail customers), and Czechia (over 600,000 retail customers) complete the top 5.
The top 10 cities in the region by retail customer base are Bucharest (590,000), Warsaw (360,000), Budapest (356,000), Sofia (270,000), Vilnius (173,000), Krakow (165,000), Wroclaw (152,000), Riga (138,000), Prague (124,000), and Zagreb (117,000).
Revolut operates in CEE, as well as across the EEA region, as a European bank headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. It holds a full banking license from the European Central Bank and operates under the supervision of the Bank of Lithuania.
