Czech PM Requests More Solidarity
Reading Time: < 1 minuteSo far, the Baltic States, Romania, and Slovakia have all expelled Russian diplomats to show their solidarity with the Czech Republic, but Czechia’s prime minister, Andrej Babiš, is hoping for more. At last weekend’s gathering of EU leaders for the “Social Summit” in Portugal, Babiš asked other counterparts to take such measures against Moscow in support of Czechia.
He made his request in response to the diplomatic fallout between Prague and Moscow following allegations by the Czech authorities that in 2014 Russian agents were responsible for a deadly explosion at a munitions depot in the Czech Republic.
In response, 18 Russian officers were sent packing, and in retaliation, Moscow also sent home 20 Czech diplomats.
