Among the large airports, Poland led the way in terms of passenger number growth in 2025, Airports Council International (ACI) data shows.

Kraków Airport has become Europe's fastest-growing airport in its category, serving 13.25 million passengers in 2025 - a 19.5% increase on the previous year, according to the ACI report. The airport has broad connections to Europe and beyond as local carrier LOT Polish Airlines operates long-haul flight to the US as well.

Among airports handling between 10 and 25 million passengers, Warsaw's Chopin Airport ranks second with 13.2% growth, reaching 24 million passengers. This places it second among regional capitals behind Vienna.

Warsaw's growth rate stands out even among EU capital airports, surpassed only by Bratislava, where Ryanair and Wizz Air have shifted significant capacity following Austria's introduction of an aviation tax.

Budapest Airport claims third place in the large airports category, with 19.6 million passengers - an 11.7% rise year-on-year.
