Local media reported that Dolni Lutyne Mayor Pavel Buzek said the plant \u201cwill certainly divide the village; some will be for it, and some will be against it\u201d but conceded that the region needs investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Volkswagen pulled EV battery plant idea<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In November, after months of negotiations with Czechia, German carmaker Volkswagen\u2019s CEO Oliver Blume <a href=\"https:\/\/centraleuropeantimes.com\/2023\/11\/vw-shelves-plan-for-ev-gigafactory-in-cee\/\">said it has no plans to build more EV plants in Europe <\/a>for the time being, after meeting Fiala in Prague. Czechia had offered Volkswagen a site in the west of the country. After the rejection, the government said it would find another investor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sikela also revealed in November that Czechia is in discussion with five other potential EV plant investors \u201cfrom other continents\u201d.
